Coastal Navigation & Tidal Planning
This course is designed to give you the skill and confidence to plan coastal sea journeys where you maybe up to 2 nautical miles offshore in moderate sea conditions; which basically means where tidal streams are less than 2 knots and/ or the wind is up to force 4. It is also a suitable course if you are seeking your BCU 4-Star Sea Kayak Award.
The course is theoretical and based indoors at a venue of your choice but will work through practical examples. It usually lasts about 8 hours although this can be separated into smaller modules if required.

If you dream of "discovering new oceans" and need to leave the shore behind then
this is the course for you. Maybe you're working towards your BCU 5-Star Award. The indoor syllabus will work through practical examples to help you plan trips where you will be more than 2 nautical miles from land and where strong tidal streams of more then 3 knots and/ or the wind is reaching Force 5.
